It was more like they were looking for something in the papers, they probably couldn't find anything so they were checking if they had been given everything in the time trial. It's better to stand there and find it than to leave and find out they don't have the paper. Especially when they're in 2nd place.

So it's quite logical. When the FIA comes up with something and issues a statement, they should already know what and how it will be. They don't just issue a statement and then start figuring out what it's going to be. Then teams can hardly develop and prepare for next year and nobody wants to do everything quickly at the last minute.

Now I'll write my opinion, yes, it may be total and stupid s....a, I'll answer myself, thank you all, but that's about it, this is a rally site, everyone can write their opinion without insulting others. :-) I would introduce 1 simple rule to attract and attract car companies - CAR POWER 500 HORSES - period, one rule (in 3 - 5 years maybe increase to 600). And it doesn't matter if the car will be petrol, diesel, electric, nuclear powered, just everything, just a 500hp limit, there will be different concepts (Dakar also runs petrol, diesel, electric). Same castle, it doesn't matter if 500 hp is crammed into a VW Up or a Ford Transit. There's always talk about luring new car companies, but in the last 10 years or so I haven't noticed all the car companies of the world literally flowing in and entering the ms. I think this simple rule would attract more entrants, even unknown ones, I wouldn't mind it at all, let's put some reasonable financial cap on a set budget and leave it up to the car companies, the privateers, what powertrain and castle they pour it into, just cap it at 500hp. I probably wrote a stupid thing, but is it really that bad? Would it really have less takers from around the world? I haven't noticed all the car companies flowing out of the Rally1 for example.

Well, I have the opposite opinion. There's been mastodons that have been overpowered before, and it's gone nowhere. The power limit is hard to control and the financial limit is too. I remember in F1 they used to have tanks to "cool" the brakes, which would drain after take off, thus circumventing the weight limit. So for me, on the other hand, I would abolish the super expensive WRC1 and promote the much cheaper WRC2 to the top class. Or something along those lines. Limit the volume, restrictor, leave the weight high so there's no reason to invent superlight and superexpensive materials. Or allow cars as similar to production cars as possible, so that car companies have a reason to enter and not invent non-existent super specials with "stuck on" logos in the series.

With one problem - those source serial cars will be more and more of a problem, because they are slowly not and probably won't be.

I know I'm going to get hated, but the Skoda with "electric" was 3rd overall in the Rally Weiz back in 2021 and puts out 700hp in rallycross with an American engine. Don't write to me about the nonsensical 200kW recharge, they are testing cars for 650kW recharge. I'm not saying it's the only way, but Toyota has a 2.5L hybrid, so there will always be some way from series to rally. But you can't assume that if the road is straight, you can fly 140 there regardless of the rocks. Pirelli has written that teams don't even want the more durable tyres because then their rims crack and the handling is worse. Maybe gravel RZs without rocks are the way to go, or maybe just tarmac for rallying and leave the terrain to the buggies.

I think this is the last season for a long time where it's worth something. It's going to get worse from 2025 onwards! If the cars don't get cheaper and every privateer drives them, the whole MS could go to hell.

Well, I think this season is already about nothing, at least for me. I don't find anything interesting in wrc1 this year and after a long time I'm not going anywhere this year. It's sad what I'm going to write now, but I'd rather go to f1 for the weekend. I think you can see the decline here on the forum, only three sheets commented so far...

Albiteboul or whatever the Hyundai boss's name is spelled suggested that this Hyundai was losing slightly to Toyota all the time and that they apparently already had another Hyundai ready for next season based on a presumably smaller version. So I'm just wondering what version this was supposed to be. And from his statement it's nice to see how the FIA have once again properly "messed" up and actually many here seemed to be enjoying the new rules entirely prematurely, with the threat of Hyundai leaving the WRC due to the FIA's dilettantism. A truly "bravura" performance by the FIA gentlemen led by the Arab.

The 2024 i10 comes to mind. It's small almost like the Yaris GR so it's possible the new car was based on that car. But I guess we'll never know.

Why not? Look at the spacing...and the Saturday points are only if you complete Sunday as well...and that ends with PS, which is another possible point. And then you also have to figure out who is after what. Kalle isn't going for the whole season, he wants to win the Safari and points for Toyota...etc.
