SS13
"It was like being in a canoe!"
"It was a nightmare."
"Worst by far of the whole rally."
SS10
"Al's Playground is my perfect stage. That one [Menge Creek] going down, I just pucker the whole time, waiting to get caught out. It's still fun; I prefer up though. Coming down it's slippery, the grip is a little inconsistent, you have to be careful."
"I was going to go with a different ALS setting but I'm glad I didn't, it wasn't that slippery. I thought it was going to be worse."
SS8
"We haven't really checked [the times], cell coverage is so bad. If but we're winning, we're winning."
How was that last stage?
"Dark."
"One of those stages is medieval. We usually do well in the tough stuff but we just need to see how it goes."
"The last stage was scary! I can't imagine doing that in the dark, especially going that fast."
SS5
"The pace isn't quite what we wish it would be. I'm trying not to let the stress get to me; it was for a minute. Night stages are a little bit spooky. I'm hoping I can grow a pair and push through the fear."
"The rear tires are low pressure. We swapped them front to rear because they were getting more heat in the fronts, so now the rear tyres are low. We have to drive more sideways,"
"I sort of have a personal vendetta against this event after last year when I broke my hand. So I told Florian [Barral, co-driver] we're either going to get a good result and have some fun, or we're breaking the other hand!"
SS4
"It suits the car with what we have. You've got to keep in mind this is basically a bone-stock Subaru: we have pretty good suspension but engine, powertrain, stuff like that, all stock."
"We just went to start the car and it's not starting! That's a basic way to put it. We tried everything we could and it's not something we can fix on our own. I stopped and I was in second gear, I went to go down to first and it just kinda cut off; OK, it's done that before, just put it in first gear, put it in neutral, try to turn it back on; didn't start. We tried everything: We pushed it forward, we pushed it backwards, we tried to jumpstart it, we tried everything, but it just didn't work."
"I think we're going over 100% throttle because my foot's down so hard and it's pushing through the floor"
Mechanical - Has not started SS4. Her car won't fire up.
SS2
"Yeah, she's doing great [Lia Block]. She's a little nervous."
"We had a brake-scraper break and was stuck in the wheel and we got a puncture at the beginning of the first stage, so we had to change that really quick. Thankfully no late check-in penalty; we got in just in time. But kind of stressed on that, being paranoid, trying to smell my brakes, are they stuck on or something? But second stage getting better, so just building up confidence."
"Pace-wise we're having a lot of fun. We're watching Lia's times and she's getting closer and closer, so it's really cool to see."
